I will try to update you with Current Events
Also this will be a place where I can connect you with what's happening in classrooms in the school
Common Sense Media does it again. Below are 2 links that may help you.
The first involves cell phones and the correct age, etc. This link may offer some insight! Click Here "Parents often ask us to suggest good books for their kids -- ones that will engage, entertain, and maybe even enlighten them. So we've scoured our recommendation lists and consulted with teachers, librarians, and book critics to assemble what we consider essential titles for your home bookshelves or to download to your e-reader, smartphone, or tablet. From the classics to more recent must-reads, from fantasy to funny, from bedtime stories to chapter books to true literature and more, we have more than 150 great book suggestions for your kids and teens. Just search our themed categories, and you'll find all our picks arranged by age groups." commonsensemedia.org This next link click here gives suggestions for books for your children. I have been focusing on keeping students safe by using appropriate websites and search engines to do so in my classes. Searching topics and images on Google is very unsafe and quite often inappropriate for elementary age students. Below are 2 posters that I have created in order to keep students safe and find results written with their reading level and age in mind. The search engines and websites are chosen by teachers and librarians with students in mind.In addition, with the older students, we have also been talking about citing sources and giving credit to the owners of images and text we have “borrowed” for our assignments. The image sites give students permission to use their images as long as students cite them. As always, my door is open for conversation.
