Commone Sense Media gives a list and description for your children to read during their summer travels! Common Sense Media says, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The internet is so woven into our lives, we need to be aware of the worst-case scenarios that can strike when we're unprepared. Below are a few of those scary things that can and do happen. But with some eyes and ears to the ground, they are totally preventable."
1. Your kid could be spied on 2. Your kid could get accused of a crime 3. Your kid could get hurt 4. Your kid could lose out on opportunities 5. Your kid could be sold short 6. Your kid could be limited 7. Your kid could be humiliated. The website goes on to tell you how to protect your child in each scenario. A great read for today's youth and parents as well as a good discussion starter. I know I preached that colleges and employers are looking online and judging character based on social media. What they post today could harm them in the future. Click here for the full article:www.commonsensemedia.org/blog/7-reasons-parents-should-care-about-kids-and-online-privacy |
